Waterbrook's Philosophy on Politics and the Church

Waterbrook Bible Fellowship will seek to equip the church body with a Christian worldview by presenting a Biblical perspective on moral and cultural issues.

Waterbrook Bible Fellowship will not endorse, recommend, or support any political candidate or political party. History has shown that every human government and authority, and indeed every individual, has fallen short of God’s perfect standard (Romans 3:23). However, we also recognize that all governing authorities are ultimately established and allowed to govern only by His will (Romans 13:1-5).

Therefore, we encourage all Christ-followers to:

1)   Exercise discernment as they evaluate political, social, and cultural issues. (Romans 12:2; Philippians 1:9-10)

2)   Engage politically according to their own conscience, voting for those that they believe will best represent God’s will on earth. (Matthew 6:10; Romans 14:23)

3)   Submit to the governing authorities, regardless of the outcome of any political contest. (1 Peter 2:13-17; Titus 3:1)

4)   Pray for our nation’s leaders, that God would grant them wisdom to govern well! (1 Timothy 2:1-2; Proverbs 21:1)

5)   Love our neighbors, like Christ, even if they vote differently or treat us as enemies. (Leviticus 19:18; Matthew 5:43-44; 22:37-40)
